Why are people still calling Ted Bundy a psychopath when in fact he has DID, RAD, bipolar disorder, and ASPD (different to psychopathy)?
Ted Bundy was never definitively diagnosed with anything. Where are you getting your information? People theorise that he could have had DID based on some pretty scanty evidence (Look his handwriting changed! Multiple personalities!) so I think that pretty questionable. RAD seems a little more plausible than DID but Im not sure his childhood shows any evidence of it. The confusion early in his life clearly did a number on his psyche; I just don know if that number was reactive attachment disorder. Bipolar disorder seems likely based on what people who knew him have said. It definitely seems like he got depressed. Even though it seems likely it still a theory and nothing more. ASPD is super likely because in addition to all his antisocial behavior he didn show remorse for what he did. But guess what? No one knows and no one ever will know since he dead. He never got more than a tentative diagnosis because it hard to diagnose someone who keeps changing their story all the time. Anyway I think people who call him a psychopath don really know what a psychopath is. They just use it to mean a messed up dude. They don know about brain structure or anything like that. Most people wouldn even care. You have to have a reason to care (like being a psychiatrist for example). If youre a plumber why do you need to know what the insula does? Do you see my point? He murdered a bunch of people so themon response is to call him a psychopath and move on not try to figure out what exact alphabet soup he should have been diagnosed with. Most people don spend tons of time learning about this stuff. I can blame them. Some people who like to learn about serial killers are super creepy (not me though).

These kids are basically fearless impulsive selfish ambivalent risk-taking thrill-seeking etc. and they often lack genuine remorse and affective empathy. I think that disinhibited and antisocial RAD is basically a specifier for conduct disorder that is believed italic to have arisen from environmental trauma (like if the kid had italic any in their background it assumed to be the cause of their present problems whether that is valid or not. Kind of like the sociopath vs. psychopath nonsense actually exactly italic like that just with kids instead). The inhibited has pretty much nothing inmon with conduct disorder; it can actually look (superficially) more like an autism spectrum disorder or schizoid or avoidant personality disorder (obviously it wouldn be diagnosed as either of those in children but if the symptoms persisted into adulthood they could). It just seems to be a problem with the DSM or maybe it was intentional I am not sure of the reasoning (as the disinhibited RAD tropes are very well known and established even popularized in media and interchangeably discussed as conduct disorder or god-forbid psychopathy).
